Guess who ruined her running shoes?
This weekend, my sister-in-law-to-be (say that three times fast) and I did a run called Bubblepalooza.
It was a 5k, but we sure didn’t run much. A large portion of the course was through some pretty rough
random grassland area that equalled 3.1 miles trail, and the other parts were through a torn up parking lot. We were, to be honest, a little scared of running for fear of rolling an ankle or falling.
Aside from that, though, it was a pretty fun race. If you have ever done a color run, it was very similar. The big difference was, except for one packet that you got with your registration, you didn’t have to deal with all that nasty powder. The color came in the form of spray and bubbles with dye. There were four “bubble stations” throughout the course.
There were definitely pro’s and con’s of the Bubble Run over the Color Run sort of things:
- You didn’t have to deal with all the yucky chalky stuff that comes with all the powder.
- Therefore, my car was much less of a mess.
- The end product of your t-shirt looked way more tie-dye-ish (at least by comparison for mine)
- Man, was that stuff hard to scrub off.
All my other comparisons probably relate more to the specific events I did than the events as a whole.
Overall, it was a fun morning spent with one of my favorite girls, so I’m not complaining! 🙂
Have you ever done a color-ful run?
I’m always looking for new and interesting races. Any suggestions?
